17 August 2017

Several RNN Training Apprentices were recognised for their talent and achievements at the Rotherham Apprentice of the Year Awards 2017.

The awards invited employers from across Rotherham to nominate Apprentices that they felt stood out for their achievements and progress.

Christina Bubb, who is completing a Welding Apprenticeship at MTL Advanced, won the category of Intermediate Apprentice of the Year, whilst Simone Davies, who works as a Clinical Health and Social Care Apprentice at Rotherham Foundation Trust, came Highly Commended.

The achievements of RNN Training Apprentices were also celebrated in the Advanced Apprentice of the Year category, where MTL Advanced Engineering Apprentice Tom Smith won the Highly Commended award.

Seven RNN Training Apprentices were shortlisted into the final 16 entries, out of 150 nominations throughout Rotherham.

Digital Marketing Apprentice Rachel Ovens, Engineering Apprentice Joel McCabe and Art and Design Apprentice Kaylan Goodwin were commended on their achievements and congratulated by Vicki Norman of Rotherham Council on their success at being shortlisted in the competition.

All shortlisted Apprentices were invited to attend an Awards Ceremony at the New York Stadium in Rotherham with their employers, which gave them the opportunity to network with industry experts from the local area.

Philip Sayles, Deputy Principal of the RNN Group, which includes RNN Training, offered his congratulations to all of the finalists; “the RNN Group is extremely proud of all of our Apprentices and is pleased that they have had their achievements recognised in such a fantastic way. We work hard to provide excellent training and Apprenticeships in the region and this is reflected in the success of our Apprentices.”

“New developments in Apprenticeships means that they are exciting career paths to take, and we hope that all of our Apprentices continue to build their skills with us right through to Degree level, earning as they do so,” Mr Sayles said.

RNN Training works in partnership with Rotherham College, North Notts College and Dearne Valley College to offer a wide range of Apprenticeships across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.
