With professional players and industry-experienced coaches, you’ll join a winning team with us.

Studying Sport at Dearne Valley College (also part of the RNN Group), you’ll be able to kick off your skills development by using our fantastic facilities including our Astroturf pitches, fitness centre with multisport cages and the nearby Manvers boathouse and lake with access to canoeing, open-water swimming, mountain biking, orienteering, windsurfing, sailing and raft building.

We offer a range of courses, so you can progress from entry level right up to degree level. You’ll gain sought- after skills including sport, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, fitness testing, leadership and much more.

Our expert tutors bring with them real-world experience and passion to their teaching, so what you learn with us is what you’ll use in the world of work. You’ll also have access to cutting edge equipment including our sports GPS system, timing gates and Hi Cam Telescopic Mast Filming System, for measuring fitness and performance.

Sports Development Officer

Average salary - £24,000**

Sports Development Officers organise projects and training to encourage people to take part in sport and have a healthier lifestyle.

Day to day tasks:

Find and train staff, coaches and volunteers for projects, promote and run projects and activities, monitor and evaluate projects, find funding, manage resources and budgets, put local and national policies into practice, attend meetings, seminars and conferences and coach or supervise sports activities.**

Working environments:

You could work in an office, at a school, on a sports field, at a fitness centre or at a college.

Outdoor Activities Instructor

Average salary - £23,000**

Outdoor Activities Instructors lead trips and teach skills in activities like hill walking, climbing, canoeing, skiing and snowboarding.

Day-to-day tasks:

Plan and prepare activities, explain, advise on and demonstrate activities, instruct in specialist areas like sailing or climbing, make sure all equipment and facilities are safe and explain safety procedures.**

Working environments:

At an activities centre or in the countryside.
