Our Motor Vehicle courses are taught at Dearne Valley College and North Notts College (also part of the RNN Group) where you can access modern professional-standard workshops and learn from industry-experienced tutors in environments that reflect real-world working environments.

As well as top-quality workspaces you’ll have the chance to gain sought-after skills and work on emerging technologies such as electric and hybrid vehicles. You can choose to specialise in either vehicle maintenance or vehicle repair, opening up a breadth of career choices in an evolving industry.

The motor vehicle teaching teams have a passion for all things automotive, creating an energetic and rewarding learning environment. Within our industry-standard, state-of-the-art workshops, you’ll be hands-on working on real vehicles, to gain the knowledge and skills that will enable you to achieve your aims and ambitions within the motor vehicle industry. Our experienced staff will provide you with experience of vehicle maintenance, vehicle fitting, body repair, hybrid and electric vehicle awareness and automotive refrigerant handling.

Vehicle Technician

Average salary - £27,900*

Vehicle Technicians repair and service cars and vans.

Day-to-day tasks:

Using and maintaining machines and tools, finding and diagnosing faults, speaking to customers about their vehicle, repairing and replacing faulty parts, carrying out services and updating vehicle service records.**

Motor Vehicle Fitter

Average salary - £22,400*

Motor Vehicle Fitters repair and replace worn and damaged tyres, exhausts, batteries and parts.

Day-to-day tasks:

Testing batteries, checking tyres and exhausts, replacing or repairing faulty parts, balancing and realigning wheels, repairing punctures and providing customer advice.**

Working environments:

Garage and workshop settings.
