Esport is one of the fastest growing participation sports in the world. Esport is a fusion of gaming, business, events and health & wellbeing subjects brought together under one roof.

Our Level 2 and Level 3 courses are a brilliant blend of Computing, Business Studies and Sports, so you’re equipped with the best chance for your dream career in the rapidly expanding Esport sector.

Dearne Valley College has invested heavily in new Esport facilities in order to give you the experience you deserve at College. Our high specification can run the most demanding of Esport experiences. Esport allows you to express your passion for gaming and apply it to a multitude of roles within this developing and exciting industry.

Our programmes encourage you to develop skills in gaming and equip you with the skills for success across a whole range of supporting roles within the industry. Completing our Level 3 course also opens the door to exciting degree level studies across a range of curriculum. Core units of study at all levels include: Introduction to Esport, Esport Skills, Strategy and Analysis, Enterprise & Entrepreneurship in Esport, Health, Wellbeing & Fitness, Live Streaming, Branding, Social Media, Shoutcasting and Esports Coaching.

Events Manager

Average salary - £25,800*

Event Managers organise, promote and run promotional, business and social events.

Day-to-day tasks:

Discussing and suggesting ideas about the type of event the client wants, working to agreed budgets and timescales, researching and booking venues and suppliers and negotiating prices, following health and safety regulations, publicising events and managing the running of events.**

Working environments:

Event venues, in an office or at a client’s business.

Broadcast Journalist

Average salary - £24,800*

Broadcast Journalists research and present news stories on TV, radio and the internet.

Day-to-day tasks:

Generate story ideas, write website or social media content, prepare and conduct interviews, present in a TV or radio studio, ask questions at briefings and direct a small camera or sound crew or operate recording equipment yourself**

Working environments:

A studio or in an office.
