This qualification provides pathways into the sector for anyone considering a career in health and/or social care/childcare It will not confirm competence in a job role but will provide an opportunity for learners to develop knowledge about the wider health and social care sector before they decide whether working in the sector is for them and gain information to make decisions about career progression.

The health and social care sector is ideal for those who have a passion for caring for others and includes jobs in personal care and healthcare.
Nurses provide care for those that are sick, injured or have a disability and assist doctors with their tasks.
Helping doctors with examinations, administering medication, using medical equipment, monitoring patient progress, updating patients records and handover information and giving advice to patients and their relatives.**
Public and private hospitals, health centres, hospices, adult care homes, a client’s home or prison settings.

Care Workers attend the personal needs and comforts of vulnerable and elderly people to help them manage their daily activities and live as independently as possible.
Helping clients with washing, dressing, making food, doing household jobs, monitoring them and recording any concerns, checking if they are taking prescribed medication, supporting families who have new caring responsibilities and supporting their wellbeing with activities.**
