Rotherham College Students Power Up for Plug In & Play
Students from Rotherham College recently volunteered their time and skills to support Plug In & Play, a series of exciting events held across Rotherham from Monday 27th to Thursday 31st October as part of the Children’s Capital of Culture programme.
Games and Digital students took part in the event as part of their work placements, helping to deliver a range of family-friendly activities across town, from an action-packed Mario Kart tournament and an Esports gaming bus to lively jousting games and creative workshops.
The students played a key role in setting up and facilitating the activities, welcoming families, and supporting the event organisers throughout the week. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and teamwork helped ensure the events ran smoothly and were enjoyable for everyone who took part.
Organisers praised the students for their efforts, sharing this feedback:
“A huge thank you to all the volunteers across Plug In & Play who helped out! There were some very keen folks who got stuck in. They really understood the brief and helped with set-up and facilitating with families. And even the shyer volunteers were a great help, and I hope meeting various artists and facilitators was useful for them. We really appreciated all their help and energy, and your time in co-ordinating them.”
The experience gave students a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event support and community engagement while contributing to a major local initiative celebrating creativity and culture in Rotherham.
