Eyes on the Prize: Media Make-up Student Qualifies for National Competition Final
Level 3 Theatrical Hair and Media Make-up student at Rotherham College, Jessie Roberts has successfully qualified to compete in the national finals of the WorldSkills UK competition.
The renowned Creative Media Make-up national competition will take place in November 2022, at Blackpool and Fylde College.
WorldSkills UK is an independent charity that works with educational institutions, employers, and governments, with the aim of raising standards in technical education across the UK. WorldSkills UK competitions are designed by industry experts and assess students’ knowledge, practical skills and employability attributes against a set criterion in a competitive, timed environment. The national finals are designed to boost competitors’ skills and confidence.
Rotherham College hosted this year’s regional competition, and are proud to be an official WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence.
Jessie previously impressed the judges in 2021, where she won the silver medal with her stunning body art.
Jessie was delighted to have qualified for the finals for the second year in a row, she said:
“Having competed in last year’s competition and winning the silver medal, I’m thrilled to be through to the finals again – it was such an amazing experience to be part of!
“I’m extremely grateful to be able to promote my work through WorldSkills UK. I am excited to have the chance to compete again, I will be going for gold this year!
“I can’t wait to receive the brief for the finals and get to work!”
