Functional Skills are practical qualifications in English, Maths, and ICT designed for everyday life and work.
Core Highlights:
Real-World Focus: Instead of just theory, you use your skills to solve everyday problems and workplace challenges.
All Ability Levels: Courses range from beginner (Entry Level 1) to intermediate (Level 2, equivalent to a GCSE pass).
Workplace Readiness: Helps build key job skills like timekeeping, communication, listening, and independent working.
Flexible Testing: Assessments are flexible to fit different learning styles.
Functional Skills English builds key English skills for work, apprenticeships, or further study.
How it works:
Skill Placement: An initial assessment places students on the right level, from Entry Level 1 (E1) up to Level 2 (L2).
Clear Progression: Students move up levels step-by-step to prepare for further study or job opportunities.
Elements: The course covers Speaking & Listening, Reading and Writing.
Assessment: Students take a formal exam for each element and must pass all 3 to earn the qualification.
