Certificate in Photography

This 16 week full time course is designed for adults who want to develop stronger photography skills and build a broader understanding of the photo image industry. You will explore photographic processes in more depth, improve your camera work, develop creative ideas, and build a portfolio of photographic outcomes.

The course is ideal for adults who want to progress their photography skills, prepare for further creative study, or move towards opportunities within photography and the wider creative industries.

You will complete three core units and at least one optional specialist unit.

Core units include:

  • Explore Photographic Equipment, Techniques, Materials and Resources
  • Develop and Adapt Photographic Ideas
  • Introduction to Photo Imaging Industry

Optional units may include:

  • Darkroom Processing and Printing
  • Studio Photography
  • Location Photography
  • Commercial Photography
  • Documentary Photography
  • Experimental and Alternative Process Photography
  • Presenting a Portfolio of Photographic Images
  • You will study camera settings, materials, techniques, idea development, image manipulation, industry knowledge, and specialist photographic practice

  • Delivered in a supportive envrionment for adults.
  • Develop practical photography skills alongside stronger creative and technical understadning.
  • Build a portfolio of photographic work across different styles and approaches.
  • Learn in specialist spaces with access to photography equipment and digital editing resources.
  • Clear progression into higher level creative and photography related study.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification.

Learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a Level 1 Photography qualification, but this is not essential.

This course is suitable for adults with an interest in photography who are ready to develop their practical, creative, and digital skills.

You should be able to meet the literacy, numeracy, and health and safety requirements of the course.

Web Designers use their creative and technical skills to design new websites and redesign existing ones.

Day to day tasks:

Take a lead in maintaining and developing a website, attend meetings with clients to plan and develop website style and appearance, use content management systems (CMS), analyse statistics about who is using the website, write reports for managers, clients and partners, report technical problems to IT support staff.*

You could work in an office, from home or at a client’s business.*
