Rotherham College Students Pensioners Luncheon

25 April 2018

Rotherham College’s Foundation learners prepare lunch for a group of pensioners weekly at the Church Hall in Dinnington.

The students prepare all of the food for about 25 pensioners every Thursday. They do everything including setting up the dining space, cooking and serving and then all the washing, drying and clearing of the hall.

The luncheon provides real-life work experience that involves a large number of employability skills as well as the opportunity to get to know and join in activities with the pensioners. The luncheon also enables the pensioners, many of which feel isolated in their daily lives, to socialise with the students and each other.
