If you’re reading this it’s likely that you’re feeling a little uncertain about your future education or career. Perhaps you feel you’ve not fully explored other options outside of sixth form and A-Levels, or you’ve enrolled on a college course you’re now having second thoughts about.
It can be hard to know which route to pursue, but whatever your current circumstances, it’s worth considering if hands-on learning and gaining industry experience could help you flourish. At Rotherham College, we pride ourselves on providing training that prepares students to thrive in their chosen industry – and the good news it’s not too late to apply for this September.
A change of plans can be a daunting prospect, but former Rotherham College Level 3 music student Anya Mannion says it was the right decision for her.
She said: “I started at a smaller college in Sheffield, but after three weeks it was clear that it wasn’t right for me so, I searched around for a place that was more fitting.”
Anya applied to study music at Rotherham College and within a couple of weeks had attended an interview, been accepted and joined her first lesson.
Anya said: “Obviously the first few days were terrifying, but thanks to friendly classmates and extremely helpful tutors I settled in and got caught up on work and within the first month got elected student representative.”
Reflecting on her time on the course Anya said: “College has given me so many performance opportunities and the industry skills I’ve learnt will help me significantly in my career moving forward.”
