Media and Photography Students Explore the City of Berlin

29 May 2019

In April students have had the opportunity to visit and see the sights of Berlin, taking walking tours of the city’s historic landmarks.

The trip was a combined Media and Photography trip, with students studying Level 2 and 3 media, as well as Levels 4-6 from Rotherham College’s BA (Hons) Media, Moving Image and Photography degree.

Some of the activities during their trip included a guided walking tour of the Kreuzberg area of Berlin to explore Berlin’s unique street art, climbing up the over 200-metre TV Tower that boasts a 360 degree view and visiting the Museum of Photography.

Over the four day trip students also visited the Reichstag Dome at sunset, as well visiting art and film galleries to inspire their own work. There was an additional visit to the Holocaust memorial, and other historical war landmarks.

Ricky Charlesworth, Programme Leader for Media and Photography said, “Throughout the trip there was lots of walking and throughout all the learners behaved exceptionally. They all had a really great time in Berlin, formed new friendships and experienced lots about the history of the city and at the same time had the chance to practice their photography amongst some incredible architecture.”

James Poulton, a Level 3 Media student said, “I would just like to say a huge thank you to my tutors for the amazing trip to Berlin. I had so much fun and I’m glad I had the chance to go! I never managed to say thank you to any of my tutors before I left for home as I think we were all pretty tired and ready for our beds, but I’m so grateful for the trip that was organized for us!”
