Information for Businesses and Employers
We work with businesses of all sizes, from international organisations to sole traders and everything in between. If you are a business or local employer you’re in the right place. At Rotherham College we work with local businesses in a wide-range of different ways…
Our new Employer Promise campaign asks local businesses to pledge whatever they can to ensure school and college leavers in our community are given the opportunity to retain, and gain, skills required for them to successfully gain employment.
Our Employer Promise will support young people looking to Kickstart their career, and help ensure that new entrants to the labour market are able to secure meaningful employment.

“Working closely and collaboratively with the College will allow us to access talented work-ready individuals who possess the skills the technology industry needs.”
Jamie Smith, C-Learning
Our Employer Academies bring together learners, educators and employers to establish long term partnerships that will inspire the next generation into your industry.
What does that mean? It means that we work collaboratively with local employers through our Employer Academies and Employer Advisory Forums to deliver curriculums that develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours that your industry needs.

Apprenticeships and Apprentice Recruitment
Apprenticeships and apprentices play a vital part in many workforces and the new Apprenticeship Standards, including Higher and Degree Apprenticeships, open up opportunities for even more industries. This means that more businesses can now take advantage of our apprenticeship programmes.
We are here to help you from start to finish. We can advise if an apprentice and apprenticeship is the right fit for your business by understanding your business objectives, help to recruit an apprentice and deliver off-the-job training, ensure that a member of your team has the skills they’ll need to act as a mentor for your apprentice, and offer advice and guidance on End-Point Assessment.
If you’d like information about recruiting an apprentice contact us today, email@example.com or call 01709 513147.

“Our work placement student listened, took on board and applied the instructions and advice being passed on. They fitted into the daily routine with ease and were enthusiastic about all the tasks set.”

Industry Placements and Work Experience
Our aim is for each of our learners to leave College work-ready, which is why we work with local employers to provide industry placements and work experience.
Our industry placements enable our learners to join your business to gain vital experience, normally for one day a week or on block release each half term, for up to 45 days per academic year. Industry placements are a great way of receiving fresh insight in your business and increasing capacity in your business through well-planned and meaningful tasks that support your objectives.
If you can’t commit to an industry placement you could consider a shorted period of work experience, where our learners will join you for a short, sharp burst of industry insight and contribute towards your day-to-day business objectives.
Through offering these programmes you raise awareness of your business to our pool of talented learners who will be looking to join a business like yours when they complete their qualifications with us.
Developing your Staff – Training Courses
Your staff are your greatest asset and well-trained staff who receive well-planned training and development are not only more efficient for your business, but are also more likely to stay with you, as they feel valued and motivated.
We offer a range of training courses that are ideal for businesses. From specialist courses in subjects such as Health and Safety and First Aid, to distance learning courses (that are often funded and cost you nothing) that are ideal for updating knowledge and upskilling staff, we have courses that will suit the needs of your business.
“It really feels like our input can help design a curriculum that meets our business needs – it’s good to bring together the academic knowledge of the College with our industry knowledge. We get an idea of what is happening in education and can begin to plan for the skills needs of our business and potential new apprentices.”
Lee Firth, ENGIE
