Student enterprise ideas for a worthy cause

Our students are amongst several groups within South Yorkshire who are in the process of creating effective business ideas in order to raise money for charity.

PHASE Worldwide (Practical Help in Achieving Self Empowerment) are a charity that help people in remote villages in Nepal to build schools and hospitals that include a fully trained workforce. The organisation have teamed up with businesses, schools and colleges across South Yorkshire encouraging students to set up and run an enterprise in order to gain some useful life skills as well as generating funds for a worthy cause. A launch event was recently held at Sheffield’s Wales High School where the benefits of enterprise activities for students were explained and background information on PHASE Worldwide was provided by representatives from the charity including Chair of Trustees Nick Cragg. Mr Cragg previously explained, “PHASE is a fusion of talents, energy and ideals that I am very proud to be part of.” Student Enrichment Officer Hannah Weinhold said, “It is so important that young people learn the skills to become a successful entrepreneur, particularly in today’s economic climate. Raising money for PHASE in the process is just the cherry on top.” The enterprise project is an ongoing two year programme where many students will have the opportunity to develop their business and confidence skills through a series of fund raising activities.
