Health and Social Care students have a Big Tidy Up!
Level 1 Health and Social Care students were able to make a difference within the community when they took part in a Big Tidy Up litter picking event, demonstrating their support for the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.
The activity took place at Rotherham’s Clifton Park and provided the students with the opportunity to improve the appearance of the park whilst also learning how to become ecologically responsible with recyclable items. Their efforts proved to be a worthwhile experience for the students, enabling them to further their understanding of the Environmental Responsibilities course unit as they learned about waste separation and waste disposal on a first hand basis. Robert Flewitt, Curriculum Leader for Health and Science said, “I was really pleased with the enthusiasm shown from the group. Cans collected on the day were recycled in our common room using a can crusher. Funds raised from the recycling will be donated to charities that carry out work in Nepal.”
