Andy Kershaw - BBC news reporter and a former College student
BBC Radio Sheffield Broadcast Journalist Andy Kershaw recently spoke highly of his experience with the College where he was able to further his education after leaving school with a few basic qualifications.
Andy studied a combination of subjects with the College in the 1970’s including; 5 GCSE O' Levels in Law, English, R.E, Family & Community Studies and Sociology. From this he was able to develop his learning at Sheffield College where he studied Law, Government & Politics at A level, paving the way for a University education. His career path then led him towards local government, where he became a Welfare Rights & Employment Adviser/Regeneration Manager. In 1981 Andy qualified with a Law degree and joined the BBC in 1999 as a Social Action Producer. His portfolio of work also includes reports produced for BBC 5 live and Radio 4. When asked about his education with the College Andy explained; “I'm always very sentimental and grateful to Rotherham College of Arts & Technology for the way in which they encouraged and supported me back into full-time education.”
