The Clock Tower Bistro - officially declared “open”

The College’s Rother Valley Campus recently held the launch of the fully functional restaurant and training facility the Clock Tower Bistro.

The facility was introduced just over a year ago, but in that time it has been under development and now contains high quality equipment and resources which enable the College’s catering and hospitality students to take advantage of a real life working experience before entering into the industry. Curriculum Manager for Hospitality Travel and Retail Nick Crofts-Smith proudly welcomed guests to the launch and introduced the College’s Chair of Governors Joan Brier who officially declared the bistro open with a ribbon cutting. Mrs Brier later expressed her enthusiasm towards the hard work demonstrated by the staff and students and also thanked a number of regular customers from the College’s Town Centre Campus’ Wharncliffe Restaurant for their attendance, explaining that their loyalty helps to motivate the students to practice and strengthen their skills. Level 2 Catering and Hospitality student Samantha Bradder emphasised this point when she said, “Working in the College’s restaurants is helping me to learn a range of different skills as well as preparing me for the problems that can occur in a real life working environment.” The launch of the bistro also created an opportunity for further student involvement, enabling Richard Bradshaw - currently studying the Foundation Degree in Graphic Design to create a logo which truly reflected the ‘Clock Tower’ name inspired by the landmark feature on the front of the Rother Valley Campus building. During the event, George Trow Principal and Chief Executive for the College also gave a few words, referring to the success of the catering and hospitality department which has seen a “dramatic increase in student numbers over the last three years.” The Clock Tower Bistro is open for business Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes, located at the Rother Valley Campus, Doe Quarry Lane, Dinnington, S25 2NF. Diners can enjoy a two course traditional bistro lunch at an affordable price. To make a reservation please call 01909 559293.
