Lending a hand at the Rotherham Festival of Food and Drink

Catering and Hospitality students were able to participate in Rotherham’s Festival of Food and Drink within the Town Centre of Rotherham recently.

The group attended the three day event where they were able to join forces with the Ministry of Food team in order to continue the promotion of Jamie Oliver’s ‘pass it on’ programme. Their presence was an excellent opportunity for the College to be profiled as a Town Centre partner and their demonstrations were well received by the live crowd. Our students were also on hand to assist Coronation Street star Sean Wilson as he perfected a number of soufflés and exhibited a range of cheeses produced by the Saddleworth Cheese Company - a business founded by the former actor. Curriculum Manager for Hospitality, Travel and Retail Nick Crofts-Smith explained that the event was a worthwhile experience, helping to “showcase the College’s Hospitality section working in partnership with local agencies.” He also added that events such as these enable our students to be “involved in extra-curricular activities that support their learning.”
