Raising Money for Bluebell Wood
The College and the Maltby (Rother Valley) Lions teamed together recently to show their support for local charity Bluebell Wood.
The two organisations presented a joint cheque of £761.15 to charity representative Sandra Waterfield who thanked the College and the Lions for their donation and explained, “We work with ninety families within the community as well as caring for the children within our hospice. Without help like this we wouldn’t be able to carry on doing the work we do.” The funds were raised at the recent Spring Showcase event at the Rother Valley Campus and The Maltby (Rother Valley) Lions’ activities at the event raised £250 to add to the college’s £511.15. This was achieved through a number of activities including book sales and a bottle tombola where many bottles of wine and beauty products were up for grabs. President of the Maltby (Rother Valley) Lions Mr Alf Seeley explained, “We enjoy the relationship that we have with the Rother Valley Campus and this event in particular. The long lasting association we have developed with the college has enabled us to continue to raise funds within the local community at the annual showcase and we are grateful for the continued support of local people.” Rother Valley Campus Manager Paul Bloor explained how pleased he was with the College’s fundraising efforts at the Spring Showcase and said, “The event is intended to open our doors to members of the public and having the opportunity to raise funds for a deserving cause at the same time makes the event seem even more worthwhile.”
