MBE Awarded to Chair of Corporation Joan Brier
click to enlarge The College’s Chair of Corporation Joan Brier has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s 2010 Birthday Honours List for voluntary services to further education.
Joan joined the board of College governors in 1995 and was later appointed as Chair in 1997. Her work within the board has lead to a number of exciting developments at the College, including the first phase of the new build development. Due to commence later this year at the College’s Town Centre Campus, phase 1 is designed to improve the provision of Higher Education with a £7million investment in bringing classrooms and facilities to 21st century standards.
Joan’s services to further education also include her role as the Vice-Chair of Connexions South Yorkshire, along with work carried out alongside members of the Association of Colleges and the Yorkshire and Humber committee in order to ensure that quality education is delivered throughout the region.
