Higher Education Disabled Student Allowance If you are a student with a learning difficulty and/or disability and are applying for a Higher Education course at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology or another college or university....you may be entitled to Disabled Student Allowances. Such courses would usually include for instance HNCs, HND, Foundation or First Degrees and some levels of Teacher Training. If you are unsure, please ask or check the Directgov website through the link below. This allowance could pay for:
- Specialist Equipment - up to £5,161 for course
- Non-Medical Help - up to £20,520 per annum
- General Disabled Allowances - up to £1,724 per annum
so, it is well worth an application! The money will be paid into your bank account or directly to the supplier of the service(s), such as: university, college or equipment supplier. If you will be new to Higher Education you should apply to the Student Loan Company as soon as you can .........it may take some time to go through the process.
