Working your way up the different levels of a qualification does take time and patience but in the end it is well worth the wait as Simone Huang found out.
Simone joined Rotherham College of Arts and Technology to study a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care and has now completed her Level 3.
From working hard and having a goal, Simone is now on her way to University to study becoming a paramedic.
Simone said: “I have wanted to be a paramedic for a long time. My next door neighbour works as a paramedic and so it gave me the inspiration to be one too.”
From working at Level 1 Simone received extra support with her English skills and found this to be a huge help.
Simone carried out a number of placements during her course including working at a nursery and at Bluebell Wood, so she’s had a varied age group to work with.
Not only has she learnt the technical knowledge of her subject but she’s developed as a person, Simone said: “I have learnt that the more effort you put in the more chance of success you’ll have.
“I am a lot more organised as person by having to work to tight deadlines and I’ve achieved distinctions throughout the course which is an amazing feeling.”
