Moving On Up

Zoe Ellis has showed true determination and hard work throughout her time at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology, so much so she was nominated for an award by her tutors.

Zoe has completed her Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools but has also juggled a number of other courses and voluntary work to secure her place at Northern College in Barnsley.

Zoe who suffers from dyslexia and Aspergers successfully completed her course as well as her Level 2 English and Maths and Level 2 in IT. On top of this she has been doing voluntary work at Abbey Special School where she has put some of her learning in to practice. She received excellent feedback from Abbey School and is hoping to continue working there throughout her time at Northern College.  
 
Zoe said: “I have absolutely loved my time at college and I’m really going to miss it. The tutors have been so supportive and now I am on my way to study Social Sciences at Northern College where I can specialise in teaching youngsters with learning difficulties.”
Because of Zoe’s achievements, she was nominated for the Rotherham Advertiser’s Young Achiever Award by her tutors. Zoe said: “Just to be nominated was really special and has given me the confidence to continue my learning.”

 

Zoe starts her course at Northern College in September where she will study a mixture of child psychology, speech language and health-related teaching ready for her career as a Teaching Assistant.
