Things were heating up at a local college after surprised catering students were joined by two special guests from one of the country’s top catering companies.

Students at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology were joined by Tom Burton and Clive Taylor, from Arena Leisure Plc who lent a helping hand with their evening dinner service.

The two chefs worked side-by-side the students to serve up culinary creations as part of the College’s ‘1234’ menu in honour of the London 2012 Olympics.

Arena Leisure Plc is a national company covering catering at horse racing events and also is the broadcasting company for Sky’s ‘At the races.’

Phil Callus, the Catering Tutor at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology said: “This is wonderful treat for our students as these are top professionals who work in the catering sport industry, so the youngsters are getting advice straight from the horse’s mouth.

“It is also a tough challenge as the students have the extra pressure of being watched.”

Quote from Arena Leisure.

“Arena Leisure and Rotherham College of Arts and Technology have a close industry bond, which over the past six years has grown into an effective delivery partnership. In the last two years alone Rotherham College of Arts and Technology and Arena Leisure have been planning the successful delivery of the Games Family lounge at Greenwich park, the home of equestrian and modern pentathlon events for the 2012 Olympiad in London. During the sixteen days of competition, Students and Staff from Rotherham and the surrounding areas will work alongside the very best that the hospitality and catering sector has to offer, allowing students to showcase their abilities as individuals and as a team.”
