Background
 
The college has to collect personal data in order to carry out day to day activities and functions. Individuals have a right to see this data, whether it be in a manual or electronic format.
 
Individuals (or data subjects) may include students (past and present), staff (past and present) and job applicants.
 
In order to comply with the Principles of the Data Protection Act 1998 and to safeguard employees of the college, it is important that any requests to access personal data are sent to the following:

Compliance with the 1998 Act is the responsibility of all members of the college. Any deliberate breach of the Data Protection Policy will normally lead to disciplinary proceedings being taken, or access to College facilities being withdrawn, or even a criminal prosecution.
