Finding an apprenticeship

To begin an apprenticeship, you’ll need to find relevant employment AND sign up for the part you do at college. You can find the employment independently, or help is available:

Tips for finding employment
  • Think about what sort of local companies and jobs you’re interested in
  • Send your CV and covering letter to those local companies
  • Visit or telephone local employers to find out if they’re recruiting
  • Check the local newspaper for jobs and apprenticeship vacancies
  • Apply for as many jobs as possible
  • Don’t be disappointed if you sometimes don’t get a reply; there’s often a huge response to adverts
  • Keep in touch with Connexions (until March 2012)
  • Prepare for any interviews, research the organisation, be positive, and sell yourself!
