Tuition fees and awarding body fees need to be paid by you or your employer unless you are eligible for fees support (free fees).
Where a course is listed with a yes in the fees support column within the part-time prospectus there may be support towards or for the full cost of your course subject to your eligibility. Please see Do you qualify for free fees for more information.

Some courses do require you to buy materials and equipment and this will be advised when you speak to a Student Liaison Officer. There is also help for those who don’t already have a full level 2 or 3 qualification - see further information below.
Where a course is for more than one academic year, tuition fees are payable each year.
Making a payment
This can be in cash, by cheque, debit card or credit card and there are no charges for using your card to pay.
Easier payment terms are available
We offer an instalments service if your course fees are over £100. The number of instalments available depends on the cost of your course and you will be asked to leave a deposit. Contact us for more information.
Please note that once enrolled on a course, all fees will be expected to be paid in full even if you withdraw from your course.
Students under 16
If you are under 16 on 31 st August 2011 and wish to study a course at college please contact Student Services.
Do you qualify for free fees?
Fees Support
If you fall into one of the following categories you do not need to pay tuition fees for those courses funded by either the SFA (Skills Funding Agency) or YPLA (Young People’s Learning Agency).
Age Related
If you are over 16 and under 19 on 31 st August 2011 you are not required to pay tuition fees or awarding body fees for those courses funded by the YPLA (Young People’s Learning Agency). These courses are marked with yes in the fees support column within the part-time prospectus.
Benefit Related
If you are 19 or over on 31 st August 2011 you will not have to pay tuition or awarding body fees if you are in receipt of, or are an unwaged dependant of someone in receipt of any of the benefits below. This applies to courses funded by the SFA (Skills Funding Agency). You will need to provide evidence of your entitlement to the fees support.

Please note that there are some courses where no fees support is available, even if you are aged 16-18 or on qualifying benefits. These courses are indicated as ‘no’ in the fees support column within the part-time prospectus.
Free Tuition Fees on Full Level 2 or Full Level 3 courses
Adults wishing to take one of our full level 2 or full level 3 courses may be entitled to free tuition fees. Full level 2 or full level 3 courses are highlighted in bold within the part-time prospectus.
You are eligible for free tuition fees if you are:
Aged 19 or over on the 31 st August 2011, wanting to study a Full Level 2 Course and you haven’t already achieved a Full Level 2 qualification.
Aged between 19 and 25 on the 31 st August 2011, wanting to study a Full Level 3 Course and you haven’t already achieved a Full Level 3 qualification.
A student aged 19 or over on the 31 st August 2011, wanting to study a Full Level 3 Course who hasn’t already achieved a Full Level 2 qualification.
Aged 19 or over on 31 st August 2011 and wishing to undertake a course which will enable you to undertake a Full Level 2 qualification. You will need to discuss with Student Services.

Notes
Fee support does do not apply to HND/HNC/Cert of Ed and PGCE or Higher Education courses, however, these courses do qualify for instalment plans. For advice speak to a Student Liaison Officer.

Free Tuition Fees on Foundation Learning
Foundation learning courses are those at entry level and level 1 (excluding ESOL). These courses are fully funded where a learner does not already have a full level 2 or level 3 qualification and needs to learn at entry level or level 1 in order to progress to a level 2 or level 3 programme. Your tutor will work with you to identify a suggested progression route/plan. Awarding body regulation fees are payable.
Employer Paying Fees
If your employer is paying your fees, please provide a letter from them stating that they will be responsible for all tuition and awarding body fees.

Refund of Tuition Fees
Tuition fees are refundable in a small number of circumstances, for example if the course does not run or if you are unable to attend on medical grounds. Awarding body fees are not normally refundable as these are paid to a third party on your behalf.
