The Prince's Trust Team Programme
We work closely with the
Prince’s Trust to deliver a 12-week personal development course for young people aged 16-25. It uses teamwork and community work to build confidence, motivation, skills and qualifications. All sorts of people from across Rotherham do the course, especially those who have struggled at school, been (or are still) in care, been unemployed for a long time, or been in trouble with the law. You can work towards recognised qualifications and experience things which will greatly improve your prospects for employment, education and training. The programme is great fun and includes a team-building residential session with adventurous outdoor activities, a community project, fundraising activities, work placements and a final team challenge.
Choices
Our own Choices programme is for young people aged 16-25 who haven't been able to find the course, apprenticeship or job that’s right for them. The idea is to help them find their way back into education, employment or training. Courses run throughout the year, improving literacy and numeracy while building confidence and skills in supportive surroundings. At Choices, everyone looks to the future rather than the past. If you haven’t made the most of opportunities earlier in life, this could be your chance to show what you can do!
Adult Employability Skills
If you’ve been thinking about a change of direction, here’s a chance to expand and develop a range of skills. You can choose from one-day taster sessions; preparation for working in particular sectors, such as care; volunteering training; and Work Club (where you’ll be helped to apply for jobs). You can improve your Maths, English and ICT skills and get help with your CV and interview technique.
Bespoke community education
We design and run a wide range of courses across Rotherham, all year round, in response to what local people want or need. These courses are run in the community - in children’s centres, church halls and schools. You may be looking for a course you can’t find anywhere (such as a modern language), a voluntary group needing ICT training, a group wanting to put on a parenting course, or just want to get new skills without coming to college. If so, our community advisors will work with you to develop a programme which meets your needs.
